I know, I know, it’s been months since my last post….but it’s been nothing but work work and more work for months for me, and…well, that cycle has finally been broken this weekend.
Friday night, the 22nd, Iron Maiden brought their show to Monterrey, for the first time in over 10 years (tho…the previous two times [...]

Ok, ok, ok…I know it’s been a while (a whole week already??) since the last time I posted anything to this place, but…I have a good excuse!
For the last 10 years or so, I’ve been an independent consultant, helping small companies upgrade from windows to linux, and then giving said small companies the support they [...]

Here goes another of my out-of-subject posts…but…I can’t resist…again :)
Back in March, 43 years old Randy Couture returned from a year in retirement and took on a fighter who was 13 years younger, 6 inches taller, 42 pounds heavier, and almost 12 inches longer in reach, for the UFC Heavyweight Title…and destroyed Tim Sylvia [...]

Service Contracts on a website
≡ Category: Geekness, Thoughts | ≅ Leave a Comment
Ok, I know this has been on slashdot already, so probably everybody read about it by now, but I thought it was important to point to what, for many reasons, is the more authoritative source for this kind of stuff, IMNSHO. PJ, over at Groklaw, posted an article about the Douglas v USDC Central District [...]

Microsoft and its cheating ways, this time in Andalucia, Spain, regarding OOXML
≡ Category: Geekness, Tech, Thoughts | ≅ Leave a Comment
Well, PJ over at Groklaw is at it again, this time with a short but interesting post called Now It’s Spain and OOXML - More Standards Highjinks?.

A quick and fun update on the SCO saga
≡ Category: Geekness, Thoughts | ≅ Leave a Comment
I know I haven’t been posting much about the SCO saga anymore, but…truth is, it’s gotten boring, unless you enjoy the legal wrangling.
When this first started, people at IBM and in the Linux community were worried that there may be something behind SCO’s curtain…that there may actually be something real hiding behind all the smoke [...]

Favorite song in the soundtrack of my life…
≡ Category: Thoughts | ≅ 2 Comments
Well, it seems like this is the week of the meme…but I promise is the last one for this week, if anybody gets me pulled into one, I’ll just hold it off for a week :)
Anyway, Rich decided to tag me after Kristen, of Think Positive! tagged him on the latest poke-a-neighbor game that Hilda [...]

Chris’ faulty logic :P
≡ Category: Geekness, Thoughts | ≅ 3 Comments
Well, Handy decided last night to play meme shuffle, forwarding Randa’s “I Follow” meme tag to me, due to the fact that he wrote a post about the whole nofollow thing last night. Of course…I bet he hadn’t read my blog yet ’cause I wrote about nofollow earlier today!
But since I’m not a lazy bum [...]

To follow or not?
≡ Category: Admin, Thoughts | ≅ Leave a Comment
Well, there’s some talk around the blogosphere, at least among the users of wordpress, about the nofollow thing.
By default, WP adds the nofollow tag to the links appearing on every comment, so as to deny spammers the link love…and it was a good thing.
But now, we have much much better anti-spam tools than back when [...]
