I’m pretty sure I’ve seen hits from Australia a time or two…this should be of concern to you.

And even if you aren’t downunder, watching the arrogance and stupidity of companies involved in the selling of books is highly entertaining and amusing, even when it pisses you off.

Charlie Rimmer, Commercial Manager of Angus & Robertson Whitcoulls Group, a book selling company, sent a letter to, at the very least, some of its suppliers. Said letter is one of the most egregious examples of corporate stupidity and arrogance I’ve read in a long long *long* time. I particularly like the closing paragraph.

If you would like to discuss this with me in more detail, I am delighted to confirm an appointment with you at 1.00pm on Friday 12th August for 10 minutes at my offices at 379 Collins St, Melburne.

Ayup, “I’ll give you 10 minutes to talk about this, on the day and time of my choosing, not more”.

Now…that isn’t so funny if you don’t know what the letter actually says before that…and…I’m too lazy to transcribe the whole thing lol! So…go read it, and after you laugh and then get pissed off, read the answer penned by the director of Tower Books, Michael Rakusin…it’s not only hilarious and fun to read, it’s spot on on calling out the corporate idiocy commited by Rimmer.

So…go read both letters, and if you are an Australian, never buy another book from A&R, they don’t deserve your money.
