So..Brian Krebs, on the Security Fix column he has on the Washington Post published the data behind his article of a couple of weeks ago in which he stated that IE was unsafe over 2/3 of 2006….that is, out of the 12 months of the year, IE was unsafe to use for over 9 months!
On the other hand, Firefox was unsafe for 9 *days* in the same one-year period.
It’s important to note that Brian only is counting holes that MS and Mozilla themselves called Critical, not those that 3rd parties called Critical.
There’s other interesting data in the article…for instance, it took, in average, 113 days for MS to issue critical updates in ‘06…obviously, if Firefox was unsafe for 9 days, Mozilla’s average was slightly lower, right? :)
The two articles are interesting and worth a read, as is the raw data he points to in the second article, give them all a twirl :)
