I know, I know! it’s been a while since last I posted, specially since my last book review. I’ve been sick, and then I got better about 3 or 4 days ago…and had to try to catch up with the world to see if there was something worth posting about…and ended up deciding that there wasn’t lol! So…I decided to write the next review and make at least one of my two readers happy :)

So, in the Paladin of Shadows there’s, at this point in time, 4 books:

The links there point, of course, to the reviews I’ve already written about the first three books in the series, and the fourth is to the book’s teaser chapters in Baen Books :) You can, of course, buy the book at Baen, both in paper (hardcover) and in electronic form, tho the electronic form is still on ARC.

In Ghost, we get to meet Mike Harmon, aka Ghost, and we go along for the ride on his adventures, from rescuing lovely coeds from a bunch of terrorists to saving Paris from an A-bomb. In Kildar, we see some more of his adventures, as well as meet the Keldara, while Mike is forming the Tigers of the Mountains, an elite combat group made up from the Kildara. In Choosers, we travel along with Mike and the Tigers as they perform their first mission, against the Albanian mob, trying to rescue a girl from a sex slavery ring in which the girls end up as part of some sick snuff fantasies for powerful people.

And all along, we get to discover why Ringo calls this series Paladin of Shadows. Yes, Mike is a great guy, yes, he rescues damsels in distress, but he also likes to tie them up and whip them hard before having his wicked way with them :)

In Unto the Breach, we get to see the Tigers of the Mountains go into a mission that could very well mean the end of them all. This time they will have to go into the heart of the Chechenian terrorists’ land, and destroy their latest toy. No, I’m not going to tell you what the toy is, but it can potentially destroy humanity, if they aren’t stopped. And to make things even more fun, the toy is passed along to them by a group of renegade russians, former Spetzna people among them.Things are bound to get interesting for Mike as his Tigers.

We get to witness the development of Mike’s relationships with the Keldara, with his harem and with the Tigers, and things do stay fun there, but most of the book is focused on the mission. We also get to see Katya get her special toys in play, on a mission complementary to the one the Tigers take. Things get interesting when she has to, once again, play her old profession for cover so she can accomplish her mission.

As the previous books, this one is a lot of fun, well written, interesting characters, amazingly well described battles…well worth every cent and every moment you spend reading it.

Glad you’re feeling better and glad you’re back to blogging. FWIW: The books I asked you about lost my interest in the first 20 pages. I’ll give it another go after I finish the ones I just started :)

Oh! Ok, never read them lol! Guess I won’t either :)

I started re-reading the Dragonlance books again…I had forgotten how fun they can be :) I recommend them, if you haven’t read them and you like fantasy :)
