MS keeps insisting that the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) of their…uhm…let’s call it Operating System, just because we want to be polite :) anyway, they say that their TCO is lower than Linux’ TCO…and…well, the European Union seems to disagree, from what Groklaw says.

So even if everything Microsoft and buddies said were true, it appears that it would be a one-time expense that, once resolved, leads to perpetual savings thereafter, because you’ll need fewer administrators, as they have less to do and so can administer more PCs. And there are administrators already trained and available.

GROKLAW

So…who’d you believe? the EU or MS? I know who I believe :)

PD a few days later: BTW, the one person who I know has at least glanced at this blog asked me to make sure that people learn what grok actually means…so…follow the link and learn :)

Yes, wikipedia works…but ESR’s Jargon File is the authoritative document when it comes to defining geek terms…linking to the Jargon File is always right :)
